Singapore, 20 May 2018 – Canon today flagged off the first Canon PhotoMarathon 2018 competition in Asia at 09:30 AM in Guangzhou, China. Since the last competition in 2016, the photography community in Guangzhou has embraced the love of photography and the fun of composing pictures under time pressure. This year, a total of 1,013 photography enthusiasts from across generations and all walks of life gathered at the gymnasium of Guangzhou Sport University, to immerse in the lively atmosphere before the start of the competition.

“The Canon PhotoMarathon is an annual and highly anticipated event for photography fans to discover the hidden frames of our cities and local neighbourhoods,” said Mr. Naohiko Hayashi, Senior Director and General Manager of Regional ICP Sales and Marketing Centre, Canon Singapore. “Photography has the powerful ability to connect people through imagery, and through Canon PhotoMarathon, we hope to enable the local photography community to see their cities from an interesting perspective.”

True to its name, Canon PhotoMarathon is a blend of photography and sports. For participants to cross the finishing line, both mental and physical endurance are required over the long duration of the competition. Indeed, the biggest photography event in Asia also illustrates Canon’s Big Health initiative which aims to celebrate life through cherishing health and living every moment with passion.
