View the Macro World with Greater Clarity Through Canon's New Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT
With versatile dual flash heads, the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT offers users a vast ambit of close up, nature and macro photography applications

SINGAPORE, 29 Aug 2017 – Canon today announced the launch of the new Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT, an external flash unit designed for macro photography. The Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT is designed with dual flash heads that can be adjusted independently and removed from the mounting ring, thus making it suitable for an extensive range of close up, nature and macro photography applications.

"In response to the needs of our users, the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT was built to help overcome the challenges of capturing macro shots with a regular flash. At the same time, the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT also provides flexibility and room for creative lighting options during macro photography applications, to enable every photographer to achieve their desired effect." said Naohiko Hayashi, Senior Director and General Manager of Regional ICP Sales and Marketing Center, Canon Singapore Pte. Ltd.

Flexible Control and Freedom of Lighting
With dual flash heads on the mount ring, users have the flexibility to adjust the positions as desired to control the shadows and highlights on the subject when the photo is taken. The flash heads can also be detached from the mount ring, to serve as an alternative lighting option away from the camera. When focusing on a subject from a very low angle, stability is ensured as a result of the bottom cut-off design on the mount ring.

Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT features high-luminance white LEDs, which are brighter than the predecessor's (MT-24EX) krypton lamps. These are added to enable easier focusing even in low light conditions. To activate this, users simply have to press the shutter button halfway twice. With the guide number raised from 24 to 26, the flash output on Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT is heightened, thus illuminating subjects more brightly.

With an enhanced minimum light emission of 1/512 (on manual setting), the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT boasts of vast improvements over its predecessor, the MT-24EX, When shooting on this setting, the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT is capable of suppressing the occurrence of blown-out highlights in very close-up macro shooting scenarios, maintaining exposure so details can be better seen. Exclusively created for the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT, the diffuser adaptor can also be used to automatically control the intensity of the lighting, resulting in an evenly lit subject with soft shadows and reduced blow-outs.

Enhanced Multi-flash Function and Reduced Recycle Time
With the reinforcement of the radio transmission wireless multi-flash shooting function on the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT, users can control up to 5 groups and 15 flash units. This creates a multitude of possibilities in terms of achieving varied and versatile lighting effects. For more convenience, remote shutter release from the slave unit is supported. A step up from its predecessor, the slave flash units can be placed at a maximum distance of approximately 10m.

Recycle time on the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT is reduced to approximately 5.5 seconds and 3.3 seconds for quick flash, which are 1.5 seconds or 3.7 seconds for quick flash faster than its predecessor, the MT-24-EX.

With the shorter recycling time, users will be able to trigger the flash faster due to the corresponding decrease in charging time. This addition, coupled with the silent flash charging ability, will heighten opportunities of capturing moving subjects sensitive to sound.

To gain more flashes per charge and faster recycling time, the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT can operate by using the Canon CP-E4N Battery Pack, an external power supply (Alternatively, it can be operated by alkaline batteries). Using the CP-E4N for power, the range of normal flash recycle time spans across 0.1 seconds to 2.5 seconds. Correspondingly, the quick flash recycle time range from 0.1 seconds to 2.0 seconds. The flash-per-charge rating jumps to at least 260 full power flashes (up from 100).

Improved Graphical User Interface and Operability
For enhanced visibility, the new dot-matrix LCD panel of the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT reflects larger, easy-to-view icons and an extended volume of displayable information. Additionally, the Macro Twin Lite MT-26EX-RT inherits the operating interface of the latest Speedlite EX series, which offers greater user intuitiveness with its backlit operation buttons as well as a select dial and set button.

As an added bonus, the mounting foot features a one-touch lock lever that allows for the flash to be seamlessly and securely attached to the camera. To minimise discomfort during shooting, the flash is also designed to reduce forehead disturbance.
