Features

FINE Print Head Technology

FINE high-density print head technology combines high resolution and high printing speed ー two seemingly conflicting benefits ー at an exceedingly high level. This feat was accomplished by merging high-precision jets with ink-spray technology that delivers the ink consistently with high precision, onto the media. With the DreamLabo 5000, even the most demanding photo quality objectives are fully met.

DL Colour

DL Colour Combines the Advantages of Silver-halide and Inkjet Images to Deliver a Genuine Edge in Image Expression.

What is the advantage of silver-halide images? Canon defines it as a sense of depth and stateliness. On the other hand, inkjet images offer an advantage in transparency. With the birth of DL colour in DreamLabo 5000, users can enjoy the strengths of both silver halide and inkjet images.

Optimal Productivity

As most periodic replacement parts can be replaced by your own staff members who have received a certified training program from Canon, there is no need to wait for Canon personnel to arrive when maintenance issues arise. This contributes to minimal downtime and maximum uninterrupted work efficiency.

Standard Double-Sided Printing

DreamLabo 5000 features automatic double-sided printing, which is especially convenient when printing photo albums and on-demand two-sided documents. It can print approximately 1,000 A4 pages an hour. Thanks to double-sided printing, the manual process of pasting pages together can finally be relegated to the past. Enjoy increased efficiency with DreamLabo 5000. In addition, accurate print position control is realized by reading the registration mark with the built-in high resolution scanner.

Accelerated One-pass Printing Employs a New Fixed Line Head for High-Speed Printing with a Single Pass

In its quest for greater speed and efficiency, Canon developed accelerated one-pass photo printing. This feature uses seven fixed line print heads and 2400 dpi high-density jets that rapidly eject large quantities of ink to print in a single pass. Remarkably, it can produce 4” x 6” (10 x 15 cm) photos at a rate of approximately 2,330 copies per hour.

Optional: Automatic Detection of Faces and Scenes Combines with High-level Image Enhancement Functions

Various image enhancement functions automatically analyze the image and make suitable adjustments depending on the type of scene. This dramatically reduces the time and effort required to manually adjust brightness in specific areas; correct a colour cast, face complexion or red-eye; optimally adjust the image based on type of scene, etc. Upon request, Canon can customize colour output to match that of another printer or meet other specific customer requirements.

Double Paper Magazines Enable Paper Changes whilst Printing

Double paper magazines enable paper changes whilst printing

DreamLabo 5000 automatically feeds paper from a second roll when the first roll is used up. The empty roll can be replaced during printing without interrupting the print job or workflow. Roll paper of widths between 5” (127 mm) and 12” (305 mm) are supported. An optional paper deck may be added giving an additional two paper magazines, bringing the total to four. This will give you longer printing sessions (up to 920 m length) or printing of up to four different sizes without changing rolls.

Seven Dye-based Inks Enhance the Range of Colour Gamut for Smoother Gradations and More Faithful Skin Tones

Seven Dye-based Inks Enhance the Range of Colour Gamut for Smoother Gradations and More Faithful Skin Tones

In addition to CMYK, DreamLabo 5000 employs photo cyan, photo magenta and gray dye-based inks to reproduce wider ranging shades and achieve more precise colour control. These seven dye-based inks deliver colour and B&W photos with extra smooth gradations. Thanks to grey ink, stable colour reproduction and less colour cast can be realized.
