SINGAPORE, 31 May 2024 — Canon announced on 27 May 2024 the next generation of plotWAVE and colorWAVE large format printers for technical documentation printing. With trusted technologies like the CrystalPoint and Radiant Fusing, the plotWAVE and colorWAVE T-series combine the latest innovative product designs and controller technology to create a printing system that consistently and effortlessly reproduces high-quality technical drawings, posters and point of sale print. Additionally, both T-series include PRISMA Tech Suite, a new set of workflow solutions, multiple IT security features that offer a high degree of protection and an eco-friendly design supports environmental initiatives.

Developed for professionals in architecture, engineering, construction, and manufacturing companies as well as for government offices and commercial print service providers handling larger sets of technical documents, the plotWAVE and colorWAVE ranges have achieved long-term success with these groups. Since their introduction, over 62,000 plotWAVE and colorWAVE units have been installed by customers across the world to reliably produce accurate, high-quality prints at the touch of a button, whenever needed.

The new monochrome plotWAVE T-series replaces the previous PlotWave range and has five different models in its lineup: the T30/35, T50/55 and T75, producing up to ten A1 prints per minute and offering a media capacity of up to 1,200 metres on six rolls up to 914 mm wide1. The new colorWAVE T65 produces four A1 colour prints per minute with additional quality modes for users who require premium quality, along with a higher media capacity of up to 1,200 metres on six rolls1, offering more media versatility. Besides being a multi-function printer, there is the option of an integrated scanner and a fully unified stacking or folding solution available for users to select.

New Improved System for Daily Operations
Besides a new and improved POWERsync+ controller, the plotWAVE and colorWAVE T-series come with advanced hardware and increased memory capacity for rapid job processing. The printers also have the latest Microsoft Windows security functionality to keep their system secure. Print jobs can be submitted from anywhere via different devices and with the new remote wake-up function, Remote ON, the printer can be operated almost immediately. On top of the printers, there is a new operator attention light that indicates the printer status, and a sensor in the media drawers, which automatically calculates and advises the remaining media length on the roll.

Increased Productivity with PRISMA Tech Suite
The new PRISMA Tech Suite, a set of workflow solutions for the plotWAVE and colorWAVE T-series, is easy to use and helps users increase their productivity through efficient management of their print operations. Printer tools that are available in the PRISMA Tech Suite can be seen below.

    • PRISMAproduce Tech enables users to easily create, manage and submit complex sets of documents from a web browser to one or more printers at a time. Print users will benefit from a more consistent print process and more reliable print quality, with dedicated templates and easier IT maintenance.
    • PRISMAlytics Accounting is a secure cloud-based printer tool that captures data for cost charging and usage monitoring.
    • PRISMAlytics Dashboard is a secure cloud-based management information tool that provides comprehensive overview to monitor and maximise the production of print operations.
    • PRISMAservice is a central knowledge platform that enables Canon service and support to provide faster, more efficient and effective customer support for maximum uptime by integrating different service tools into one unified portal.

    Security Features and Protection
With security being a key concern of users, Canon has further developed the SMARTshield integrated printing security technology in the new plotWAVE and colorWAVE T-series. One such feature is the automatic deployment of the latest Microsoft security patches to the printers. Users can input their pin code or password at the ClearConnect user panel to print documents securely, thus preventing any unauthorised access or printing.

    Reducing the Environment Impact
The plotWAVE T-series with its Radiant Fusing technology and colorWAVE T65 with its CrystalPoint technology are ENERGY STAR certified and feature energy-saving modes. To minimise the impact on the environment, the printers are made from materials that are largely recyclable or reusable for remanufacturing. Both T-series are also supported by Canon smart drivers and the PRISMA Tech Suite workflow solutions to help avoid wasted prints, toner, ink, or energy.

In demonstrating the durability and build quality of the plotWAVE and colorWAVE T-series, Canon has expanded its scope of service commitment to users by including support for consumables, spare parts, maintenance software releases and security updates for the economic life of the printer2.

At drupa 2024 (28 May – 7 June 2024, Messe Düsseldorf, Germany), Canon will be showcasing its full portfolio of print technologies and displays of the new T-series can be viewed on the Canon Stand in Hall 8a.

    Availability
