Canon Receives Top-level Supplier Engagement Leader Award from International Non-profit Organisation CDP Program

SINGAPORE, 22 May 2026 — Canon Inc. announced on 20 May that it has been named a Supplier Engagement Leader in the 2025 CDP Supplier Engagement Assessment, conducted by the U.K.-based non-profit organisation CDP, for the fifth time1. The Supplier Engagement Assessment evaluates companies from all around the world that work effectively with suppliers in response to climate change.

Under its corporate philosophy of kyosei2, Canon aims to realise a society that achieves a beneficial balance between lifestyle enrichment and the environment, and promotes environmental conservation activities in tandem with its business operations. Canon aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions throughout the entire product life cycle (scope 1, 2, and 3) by 20503. Canon has also set science-based GHG emissions reduction targets in line with SBTi standards: by 2030, a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 25% reduction in Scope 3 emissions (category 1 and 11) compared to 2022 levels4.

To achieve these targets, Canon works together with suppliers to reduce GHG emissions through measures such as visualising GHG emissions and adopting materials and parts that produce low amounts of GHG emissions. Canon also promotes incorporating actual emissions data for raw materials and components provided by suppliers into the life cycle GHG emissions calculations for its products. In addition, the company is developing the necessary frameworks to ensure that suppliers' emission reduction efforts are appropriately reflected in these calculations, strengthening collaboration on decarbonisation across the entire supply chain5. Furthermore, GHG emission data including Scope 3 is assured by a third-party entity6.

Together with its suppliers, Canon promotes initiatives towards net-zero GHG emissions throughout the life cycle of its products.
