The RF-S14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ is the first lens in the RF lens series to provide power zoom as a built-in feature. It is optimized for shooting videos, with features that enhance mobility and operability. This allows the user to easily achieve impressive zoom effects like those in video clips shot by professionals.
When attached to an EOS R50 V camera with a zooming speed adjustment function, this lens allows the user to smoothly zoom (both in and out) at a constant speed. The inner zoom mechanism does not change the overall length of the lens barrel when zooming, thus keeping the camera’s center of gravity nearly constant at all times. Zooming can be performed easily using the zoom ring on the lens, or using the zoom lever*1 and a customized button on the side of the camera body.
The angle of view covers the wide-angle range of approximately 22mm to 48mm (converted to 35mm format). This lens supports a wide variety of video shooting situations, from cinematic movie production to private selfie shooting. It can capture spacious images even in a small room. The image stabilization (IS) performance of the lens is as effective at reducing blur in the center of the frame as a 5.0-stop*2 increase in shutter speed. When attached to a compatible camera equipped with Movie Digital IS or in-body IS, the camera-shake correction even more effective.
With a minimum focus distance of 0.15m and a maximum magnification of 0.38x (at 30mm), the lens is ideal for close-up shots. The ability to capture the details of a subject makes it ideal for shooting full-scale food preparation videos with more “sizzle,” or high-grade product review videos.
This lens offers high image quality that matches that of the EOS R series cameras, for shooting still images. Yet the lens is designed to target photographers who want to enjoy a variety of imaging expression, with an emphasis on producing video clips.
*1 In the case of cameras equipped with a zoom lever.
*2 Based on CIPA standards. When used with EOS R 10 camera at a focal length of 30mm. Effective in the yaw and pitch directions only.
