This high-power zoom lens allows users to shoot a variety of subjects from everyday snaps and travel photos to sports photography and hobbies, all with a single lens. In 35mm film format, this lightweight and compact lens covers the wide-angle to telephoto range of 29-240mm*1. When used with the coordinated control feature of an EOS R camera’s in-body image stabilization features, it suppresses camera-shake blur as effectively as a 7.0-stop increase in shutter speed, or a 4.5-stop*2 increase when using the lens IS alone. This lets users take hand-held shots with confidence even at the telephoto end, where camera shake is more likely to cause blur.
With a minimum focus distance of 0.17m*3 and a maximum magnification of 0.44x*4, the user can get close to a subject and capture it in the full frame. In addition, the camera is equipped with a Center Focus Macro function, which lets the user shoot from even closer using manual focus (MF) mode. The lens can be attached directly to EOS R series full-frame cameras with no need for a mount adapter.
*1 The 35mm format conversion is equivalent to 1.6x. Focal length in APS-C format is 18-150mm.
*2 When used with EOS R10 camera at a focal length of 150mm. Based on CIPA standards. Effective in the yaw and pitch directions only.
*3 When the focal length is within the range of 18-35mm.
*4 When focal length is set to 50mm.
Note: This lens is equipped with a focus/control ring that integrates the focus ring and the control ring.
