This lens covers a telephoto range equivalent to the 88-336mm*1 focal length in 35mm format. Despite its 3.8x telephoto zoom capability, it weighs just 270g. The use of a PMo aspherical lens and two UD lenses ensures crisp, clear images. The lens itself has image stabilization features that suppress camera-shake as effectively as a 4.5-stop*2 increase in shutter speed, and when combined with the in-body IS and coordinated control features of an EOS R camera, that improves to up to 7.0 stops*3. This makes it ideal for hand-held shooting even in dimly lit indoor venues or when shooting at night.
With a maximum magnification of 0.28x*4, it can be used to capture the tiny details of the subject with close-up shots. The lead screw type STM provides smooth autofocus even when shooting video, and the lens can be attached directly to EOS R series full-frame cameras with no need for a mount adapter.
*1 The 35mm format conversion is equivalent to 1.6x. Focal length in APS-C format is 55-210mm.
*2 When used with EOS R10 camera at a focal length of 210mm. Based on CIPA standards. Effective in the yaw and pitch directions only.
*3 When used with EOS R7 camera at a focal length of 210mm. Based on CIPA standards. Effective in the yaw and pitch directions only.
*4 When focal length is set to 210mm.
Note: This lens is equipped with a focus/control ring that integrates the focus ring and the control ring.
