A large-aperture, mid-telephoto single-focal length lens with a maximum aperture of f/1.8 — surpassing that of the EF135mm f/2L USM. Three Ultra Low Dispersion (UD) lens elements are used to suppress chromatic aberration and deliver crisp, clear images. This is the only 135mm single-focal-length lens*1 with an in-lens image stabilization (IS) mechanism. When used in coordinated control with the camera’s in-body IS, the camera-shake blur compensation is as effective as an increase of up to 8.0 stops*2 in shutter speed. A fluorine coating and other features make the lens dust- and water-resistant*3, and easy to maintain. The lens features a lens function button to which functions can be assigned, as well as a control ring. This lens excels in achieving the compression effect and bokeh effect unique to mid-telephoto lenses.
*1 As of November 2022. According to Canon survey.
*2 When EOS R3 is used. Conforms to CIPA standards (yaw/pitch directions only).
*3 The coating does not guarantee that water and dust will not penetrate the camera.
