The RF28-70mm f/2.8 IS STM is a large-aperture standard zoom lens that is light, mobile and easy to carry just about anywhere. It offers an ideal optical design without sacrificing image quality or maximum aperture F-value. This compact standard zoom lens covers the standard zoom range of 28mm to 70mm at a consistent f/2.8 brightness, yet it weighs just 495g (approx.) and is 92.2mm (approx.) in length.

The effective placement of two UD lens elements and two aspherical lens elements provides excellent resolution. The lens configuration, which has a single lens element in the first group, reduces the overall length of the lens when retracted. A lead-screw type stepping motor (STM) enables quiet AF operation for shooting both photos and movies. The image stabilization (IS) performance is as effective at suppressing camera-shake blur as a 5.5-stop*¹ increase in shutter speed, and when used in conjunction with the in-body IS features of a camera, the performance improves to match a 7.5-stop*² increase. This next-generation standard zoom lens combines faithful depiction with mobility, and thus opens up new possibilities for photographers.
