The 1200mm super-telephoto lens's exceptional performance is a direct result of its RF mount design. The RF600mm f/4L IS USM, from which this lens borrows its fundamental optical design, strikes the perfect balance between portability and image quality. Compared to its predecessor, the EF1200mm f/5.6L USM, Canon was able to drastically cut down on size and weight by relocating the lens's optimised magnification optics to the rear of the lens. With only 3,340g, it's remarkably lightweight for an interchangeable lens of 1200mm for SLR-type mirrorless cameras. For exceptionally sharp and clear images free of colour bleeding, this lens incorporates fluorite and super Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) lens components. The Extender RF 1.4x and 2x, when used together, allow for long-range subject photography. The excellent image quality expected of an L-series lens can be achieved even when an extender is attached.
