Canon now offers an RF mount version of the 24-70mm lens, which builds on the strong reputation of the EF mount version. While staying almost the same size, this version now has an image stabilisation mechanism. The lens offers image stabilisation that is equivalent to an 8.0-stop*1 boost in shutter speed when utilised in conjunction with the camera's in-body IS. Three glass-molded aspherical lenses and three Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) lenses are among the 21 elements organised into 15 groups that make up the optical design. Their job is to minimise aberrations, which can lower the image quality. Air Sphere Coating (ASC) helps minimise lens flare and ghosting, among other special coatings, to guarantee image quality befitting an L-series lens. Every part, from the lens joints to the switch panel, is designed to be dust-and water-resistant*2. This is done to make sure it will last. The expressive possibilities of photography are enhanced by this next-generation standard zoom lens.
*1 When EOS R5 is used with a focal length of 70mm. According to CIPA standards (yaw/pitch directions only).
*2 This does not guarantee that water and dust will not penetrate the camera.
