XA45

4K camcorder with exceptional value,
3G-SDI output

Offering users exceptional value, the XA45 is a 4K camcorder that is equipped with Canon’s 4K Video System which comprises of a 4K UHD CMOS image sensor, the DIGIC DV 6 image processing platform and a 4K video lens. It easily achieves high quality 4K footage that expands the possibilities in 4K imaging, raising the bar for image quality. Capable of recording 4K 25P/30P* video in MP4 format, the camera can also shoot fast and slow motion video at up to 1200x and 0.5x/0.4x** the normal speed respectively. It operates with lower power consumption and enables recording for up to 2x longer than its higher-end cousin, the XF405.

  • 4K UHD YCC 4:2:0 8-bit 25P/30P* internal recording,
    MP4 format supported

Features

The Canon 4K Video System — Producing High-quality Footage

The 4K-compatible CMOS sensor,
DIGIC DV 6 image processing platform and Canon 4K video lens work together to produce high quality 4K footage. The camera supports MP4 format recording and can record 4K UHD YCC 4:2:0 8-bit 25P/30P* footage internally. Dual SD card slots enable both simultaneous and relay recording. Full HD footage is produced by Over Sampling 4K Processing, which oversamples data from all pixels on the
4K CMOS sensor, resulting in better image quality even in Full HD resolution.

4K Video Lens With 20x Optical Zoom, 5-axis Image Stabilization

The 4K video lens is equipped with 20x optical zoom that covers a focal range of 29.3mm (wide-angle end) to 601mm (telephoto end). It features Canon’s 3D real-time lens structure, which makes it possible to realize a wide-angle fixed lens that is capable of a high zoom magnification and high-definition images. An 8-blade circular aperture diaphragm achieves beautiful bokeh quality. The lens also features 5-axis image stabilization made possible through a combination of optical and electronic image stabilization systems. The Dynamic IS mode, tailored to stabilize images even when shooting while walking, aids the realization of high quality, stable images regardless of whether the user is stationary or moving.

Improved Usability; Greater Compatibility With External Devices

A 3G-SDI terminal enables even greater compatibility with external devices by making output in Full HD YCC 4:2:2 10-bit possible in a variety of frame rates, such as 25P/50i (PAL model) and 30P/60i (NTSC model). A 3.5mm microphone jack that supports plug-in power, two XLR terminals on the detachable handle, and a 2-channel built-in microphone complement the new compatibility with LPCM 4ch audio recording. The menu button has been shifted to the right to enable easy right-hand control. The improvements are not just in the hardware. With the redesigned UI, menu items are easier to find and navigate with both the touchscreen and the multi-selector. Infrared shooting is also supported, which is beneficial for recording in pitch darkness, such as when shooting footage of nocturnal animals.
