Features

Canon MPEG-2 4:2:2 Codec 50Mbps

Equipped with MPEG-2 compression, XF 100 uses Canon’s XF Codec ensuring the widest compatibility with existing industry infrastructure and non-linear editing (NLE) systems. XF 100 comes with Full HD 1920 x 1080 Resolution, 50Mbps bit rate and 4:2:2 colour sampling. 4:2:2 provides Ultra-fine transitions in tone, colour and maintains the highest quality image. Colour sampling provides twice the colour resolution of HDV and other Codecs using 4:2:0 colour sampling. The Codec‘s 50Mbps bit rate provides bandwidth needed to capture the XF 100 superior resolution and colour in spectacular detail.

3D shooting capable

XF 100 has the ability to be paired with another XF 100 camcorder unit to provide true stereoscopic 3D recording. The XF 100 series has several features to assist with 3D production, including OIS Lens Shift to aid in optically aligning the two XF 100 cameras and a Focal length Guide for displaying the zoom position of each camera in relation to each other and calibrating the zoom distance.

Infrared shooting

The XF 100 provides an infrared shooting mode for shooting in conditions with little to zero ambient light. With Infrared Mode ‘on’ the infrared cut-off filter is retracted from the optical path and infrared light is allowed to pass through to the sensor. XF 100 also features an infrared emitter with a diffuser to shoot pleasing infrared imagery even in complete darkness.
