Solution
To ensure the best print quality, the printer allows a margin along each edge of media. The actual printable area will be the area inside these margins. By selecting Borderless Printing*, printing with no margins is possible.
* This is available in A3+ (13" x 19"), A3, A4, Letter, 4" x 6" / 101.6 x 152.4 mm, 4" x 8" / 101.6 x 203.2 mm, 5" x 7" / 127.0 x 177.8 mm, 8" x 10" / 203.2 x 254.0 mm, 10" x 12" / 254.0 x 304.8 mm, 11" x 17" / 279.4 x 431.8 mm (Tabloid), and 14" x 17" / 355.6 x 431.8 mm sizes of paper.
Recommended printing area (dark blue): Canon recommends that you print within this area. (

)However, printing in this area can adversely affect the print quality or the paper feed precision.
IMPORTANT
When printing in grayscale, depending on an image, the printing troubles may occur on the top and/ or bottom edges of the paper such as uneven coloration or white streaks.

NOTE
When Printing on Photo Paper Plus Glossy PP-101, Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss SG-201
and Matte Photo Paper MP-101, selection of “Borderless Printing” enables you to make
prints with no margins.
When performing Borderless Printing, slight cropping may occur at the edges since the
printed image is enlarged to fill the whole page.
However, Borderless Printing may reduce the print quality on the top and bottom edges of the paper or cause it to become smudged.

IMPORTANT
When using Fine Art Paper "Museum Etching", Fine Art Paper "Photo Rag", Fine Art Paper Premium Matte, or non-Canon genuine specialty paper, you cannot print in a 35 mm / 1.38 inches margin along the top and bottom edges. If you choose a paper size which says "Art XX [Margin 35 mm]" in the printer driver, a limit is set to prevent printing in a 35 mm / 1.38 inches margin on the top and bottom edges of the paper.
We recommend checking the area being printed in the preview screen before printing.
NOTE
Borderless printing with no margins is not possible when printing on; Art A4 (Margin 35 mm /
1.38 inches), Art A3 (Margin 35 mm / 1.38 inches), Art A3+ (Margin 35 mm / 1.38 inches), and
Art Letter (Margin 35 mm / 1.38 inches).
