Amazing Focus Capabilities
With two Nano USMs, the lens focuses very quickly and silently, making it suitable even for movie recording. When combined with the newly improved floating focus system, outstanding image quality is achieved throughout the focusing range.
Focus Breathing Correction
The angle of view changes slightly during focus racking while recording video, causing an annoying 'pulsing' effect called focus breathing. The RF100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM supports the correction of this phenomenon when used with a compatible camera, ensuring a smooth and natural result consistently.
Beautiful Bokeh
Fluorite and UD lenses are effectively used to suppress all types of aberration in order to produce stunning bokeh. This, along with a large aperture of f/2.8 and nine aperture blades design, creates captivating pictures that bring the subject to life.
Air Sphere Coating (ASC)
Suppresses ghosting and reduces flare from your images through the innovative use of an anti-reflection technology that forms an ultra-low-refractive index layer on the elements within the lens.
UD Lens
This lens uses four single Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) lens elements with low refraction and low dispersion, reducing axial and magnetic chromatic aberrations to deliver higher image quality.
Fluorite
Fluorite lenses suppress chromatic aberration to deliver high quality images while contributing to the lightweight built.

Despite being a zoom lens, it achieves image quality that rivals fixed focal length L lenses across the entire image. When combined with an extender, the RF100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM achieves image quality comparable to super-telephoto L zoom lenses without an extender.
Close-up
Often with a super-telephoto, it's hard to get a close-up shot, but the RF100-300mm f/2.8L IS USM has a short minimum focusing distance of 1.8 metres, which is uncommon for a lens of this range. Now you're able to get some close shots with a maximum magnification of 0.16x (at 300mm focal length).
This frees you from creative restrain so you can focus on creating your vision.
Image Stabilisation
Get tack-sharp images even when shooting handheld in low light. The lens provides up to 5.5 shutter speed stops of image stabilisation with the built-in Optical Image Stabiliser (Optical IS). When used with compatible cameras, the Coordinate Control IS that works with the In-Body IS will grant you up to 6 stops of stabilisation.
